Alison - Owner

I discovered Taboo Lingerie while driving down Broad Street with a friend who swore she’d shopped there before. “It’s just up on the left,” she said, “it’s purple… maybe we’ve passed it… no, it’s up on the left…”

She yelled, “That’s it!” I pulled into the parking lot and we walked inside. My first impression was “This is a lot of lingerie.”

“This is a lot of lingerie,” I complained, and my friend guided me towards the toy room. I made a small purchase and spontaneously asked for an application. I became a part time sales associate a few months later. I was a fashion-merchandising student at Virginia Commonwealth University with hopes of owning my own retail store, never expecting Taboo Lingerie to be it. But I fell in love with my job, and I quickly took on more hours, was promoted to manager, and became the prime candidate for ownership when the owner was ready to sell.

In December 2002, Taboo Lingerie closed and Taboo opened. The transition was so seamless, the phonebook is still confused, but the Taboo of today is worlds apart from the Taboo Lingerie of old. I had a dream, and in it women didn’t “slip into something more comfortable,” they rocked mini skirts, had great porn collections, and were incredibly sexually satisfied. I envisioned a store where hot girls with real product knowledge happily helped customers find everything they needed and wanted, whether they knew they wanted it or not.

I graduated from VCU in December 2004 with a B.A. in fashion merchandising. I spend my days living the dream at Taboo, and my nights reading, writing, and patronizing my few favorite bars. I have two awesome dogs and a house that I love. I appreciate the finer things in life, including diet mountain dew, 80s metal, and slogans on socks. My role models are Blanche Devereaux, The Old Christine, and Brian Griffin. Feel free to email me anytime at alison (at) taboolicious.com.

Deanna - Miss Pinup Punk-Rock

HELP WANTED: APPLY WITHIN

It wasn't just a cleverly worded gimmick to get me in the store.
Miss Alison needed a new Sales Associate, and fast.

So, in I came.

I began working at Taboo in October of 2004, and had less than a week to learn the trade. So I rolled up my sleeves and dug my hands in down deep as Miss Alison taught me the ropes. I was an eager learner.

When I'm not helping pick out vibrators for newbies, honeymooners, and lost husbands, you can also find me playing records, cooking, reading books on pinups, burlesque and the lost art of the 'tease', or sleeping. I'm also a photographer, a dancer, a model, and the Graphic Designer & Assistant Marketing Director of a really cool record store. I enjoy 50's pop culture, vintage wear, tattoos, cult movies, shopping, and playing dress up. So feel free to buy me things.

XOXOXO,
Deanna

Jodi - Crafty Zombie Researcher

I've always considered myself an avid porn/sex toy researcher, spending countless hours on the internet.

So, working at Taboo seemed like the perfect opportunity to try to put the research to the test. Little did I know I still had much to learn, and I've been such a good little student.

When not furthering my very provocative education, I enjoy knitting, playing with my kitty, and cooking. I am a Crafts major at VCU which means I love playing with fire and know how to handle a power tool. I also have a highly unnatural obsession with zombies and hope to one day meet one, but not get bitten.

Stef - Attitude in an Adorable Candy Shell

Stef first caught our attention with her punk rock clothing line, Toxic Shock Apparel.
We were impressed with her designs, her attitude, and her cute, cute face.
We couldn't wait to hire her.

Stef's love of whiskey and strippers has made her a perfect fit at Taboo, and also at her second job at Paper Moon.
She enjoys vulgarity, tight clothes, make-up, and record collecting.
If you think you have something in common with Stef, we commend you.
This bitch is pretty awesome.

Paige - Rollerskating MILF Nurse

Paige is a MILF and a multi-tasker! She's an important part of the Taboo family, but she's also a piercer and a naughty nurse - - she'll poke holes in you and then fix you right up!

Her ideal date is rollerskating, followed by a pop concert, and a good amount of beer and tequila. She has a soft spot for skaterboys and knee socks, though not necessarily skaterboys IN knee socks.

She loves the San Diego Chargers. If she had to be anywhere other than Taboo, she'd be back in the 619, but we're sure glad she's here!

Michelle - Troublemaking Veggie Cooker

Michelle is a woman of complexity. She loves dogs, but she doesn't have one. She prefers cooking veggies, but she isn't a vegetarian. She enjoys watching rugby, but she's passionate about gaudy jewelry. She wishes she could afford to travel forever, but she wouldn't if she could because she'd never want to leave Taboo. (I might have made that last part up.)

Some things I can tell you for certain about Michelle are that she's a whiskey drinker (takes one to know one!) and a Taboo Girl through and through. She even practices bikram yoga. Sounds hot to me.

Michelle's perfect date? Driving fast in the rain to a destination where she can likely stir up trouble.

Taboo's perfect date? Michelle.
