In 1999, a friend introduced me to a new hole-in-wall store called Taboo Lingerie.  Marked as “Richmond’s Upscale Adult Store,” it was purple-carpeted with lace curtains and neon lips and ladies in the windows.  Bypassing the knee-length nighties and satin robes that dominated the sales floor, we browsed the small toy room.  I made a purchase and picked up an application.

What was in 2002 a small lingerie store with a modest toy room and a handful of VHS tapes, is now a sprawling adult playground.  Taboo sells, rents, and trades 7000+ DVDs.  We stock every toy imaginable and carry the hottest trends in clubwear and lingerie.  I pride myself on having something for everyone, If we don’t have it, we’ll always try to special order it, at no additional cost to you.

When Taboo won StoreErotica’s national Independent Store of the Year in 2009, I knew we’d arrived.  For a single adult store in a conservative east coast city to earn such an honor speaks enormously to our passion and determination as well as the support of our amazing patrons.  Taboo has since been a finalist for several other national and semi-national awards.  We could not have achieved such success without you.
